Elizabeth R. Long has extensive experience in criminal defense, litigation, and public service. She is a member of The Law Offices of Marc S. Ward, LLC, where she represents clients in criminal defense matters as well as a broad range of civil cases, including personal injury, peace and protective orders, landlord-tenant disputes, debt collection, breach of contract, and workers’ compensation litigation. In addition to her legal practice, Mrs. Long plays an integral role in firm operations, including compliance, internal training, and strategic initiatives.

Prior to entering private practice, Mrs. Long served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Frederick County, Maryland. In that role, she managed high-volume misdemeanor dockets, tried both misdemeanor and felony cases before juries, and worked closely with law enforcement during criminal investigations. Her prosecutorial background provides her with a comprehensive understanding of the justice system and informs her strategic approach to defense and litigation.

Mrs. Long is known for her innovative approach to criminal defense, particularly in DUI cases. She has been among the first in her jurisdiction to successfully argue new and creative legal defenses in DUI matters, achieving favorable outcomes for clients in cases involving evolving law and complex evidentiary issues.
